After the events of 11 September 2001, Strba issued a new version of the video [New York]. New York 2001 is a sombre remake of the first film. The twin towers of the World Trade Center appear as dark heralds of their own fate in a film that bears unmistakable witness to the function of light in Stra's œuvre: first greenish-grey, then - after the film's only cut - almost ultravio-let, with a light that seems to penetrate the architec-ture, gnawing into its substance like acid. What remains are soot-blackened skeletons. The cars on the highways at the edge of the island seem to creep along slowly, and at one point a bird is seen flying through the picture in the opposite direction of the ship. The towers are still standing against the dark sky, but the city is already in delirium.
