Jean Otthla poseSwitzerland | 1973 | 21' 45'' | b/w | no sound Technical assistance: Serge Marendaz. The theme of this track is a nude woman whose image is endlessly electronically disturbed. The nudity and the woman’s behavior as a "model" have always shocked me by the artificiality of the situation in the ethnological sense of the term. This ensemble of stereotypes constitutes what one calls The Pose. In this work, not only was the image disturbed, but the triangle of the painter/the work/the model as well, the latter being able to intervene directly on the work itself. This attempt, though on the one hand aesthetic, also addresses the problem of eroticism -- by a de-structuralization or re-structuralization of the image. It is necessary to note that the framing is always identical and the camera doesn’t move. |
