Jean OtthHommage à MondrianSwitzerland | 1972 | 8' 00'' | b/w | no sound Technical assistance: Serge Marendaz. Restored by AktiveArchive in 2006. My intention in this work is to formally transform a painting by Mondrian. By a series of electronic disturbances, I metamorphosize an image in order to reveal it’s structure. The intention is two-fold: on one hand it is iconoclasm or semioclasm and on the other hand the re-production of the work. It is an aesthetic hommage, because an eventual sensitivity to these electronic ways is only possible thanks to painters such as Mondrian. |
