Anina Schenker’s video and photo work has two basic components: the explicit referencing of the person/ personality of the artist and a strong performance element. The influence of these two elements is not always equal, resulting in two distinct groups of works. In one, the artist investigates the cultural, social, and subjectively perceived aspects of personal identity through the emblematic use of her own person. Delving into her own past, Anina Schenker searches through private archives and aspects of her life for structures and points of reference.
